The Oregon Coast & You
The Oregon Coast is more than just a backdrop. It has a personality of its own. Wild, moody, peaceful, windswept, nostalgic, and sometimes a little unpredictable. That is exactly what makes it such a special place for photographs. Within a relatively short drive, you can move from quiet stretches of sand and rocky coves to dense forests, dramatic cliffs, grassy overlooks, historic towns, and wide-open beaches. Every location tells a different story, which means your session can feel completely personal to you.
Whether you are planning an engagement, celebrating your family, eloping along the coast, or simply wanting photos that capture this season of your life, there is a place here that can match what you are imagining.
Astoria
Astoria has a historic, slightly cinematic feeling that is different from anywhere else on the coast. Its older buildings, waterfront, docks, and views of the Columbia River work beautifully for sessions that feel nostalgic, urban, editorial, or inspired by the Pacific Northwest’s fishing history.
Fort Stevens
Fort Stevens is one of the most versatile locations in the area. The Peter Iredale shipwreck creates a dramatic and unmistakably coastal backdrop, while the surrounding dunes, forests, and open shoreline give us plenty of space to create something adventurous, moody, or playful.
Seaside
Seaside has a classic beach-town personality. The promenade, historic architecture, carousel, storefronts, and wide shoreline can all be combined into a session that feels relaxed, lively, and nostalgic. It is especially great for couples and families who want a mix of candid coastal moments and traditional beach photographs.
Ecola State Park
Ecola is where the forest and ocean come together. Towering trees, winding trails, rocky shorelines, and dramatic viewpoints make it perfect for something romantic and adventurous. It works especially well for engagements, elopements, and sessions that feel like stepping into a Pacific Northwest story.
Cannon Beach
Cannon Beach is iconic for a reason. Haystack Rock creates an incredible backdrop, especially when the tide is low and the evening light begins to soften. This location can feel romantic and timeless, but it can also be playful and laid-back. It is a beautiful option for engagements, proposals, couples, families, and intimate celebrations.
Arcadia Beach
Just south of Cannon Beach, Arcadia has a quieter and more secluded feeling. Its rocky formations, darker sand, and tucked-away sections of shoreline give sessions a moodier, more intimate atmosphere. It is a great alternative for anyone who loves the Cannon Beach landscape but wants something a little less familiar.
Arch Cape
Arch Cape feels peaceful, residential, and largely untouched. The shoreline is wide, the cliffs are dramatic, and the crowds are often smaller than at nearby destinations. It is perfect for quiet couples sessions, engagements, families, and photographs that feel natural and unhurried.
Oswald West State Park
Oswald West brings together dense coastal forest, winding trails, creeks, cliffs, and the ocean. It is ideal for sessions with an adventurous or outdoorsy feel, especially if you want your gallery to include more than just beach photographs. The walk to the shoreline becomes part of the experience and gives us plenty of opportunities along the way.
Elk Flats
Elk Flats offers some of the most dramatic views along the northern coast. With tall grass, rugged cliffs, forest edges, and the ocean stretching out below, it has a wild and cinematic feeling. This location works beautifully for engagements, elopements, bridal portraits, and editorial sessions with movement and drama.
Manzanita
Manzanita feels relaxed, warm, and personal. Its quieter beach, charming town, and views toward Neahkahnie Mountain make it perfect for sessions that feel less posed and more like an afternoon spent together. It is especially well suited for couples, families, and laid-back coastal portraits.
Nehalem Bay State Park
Nehalem Bay has a softer and more open landscape, with grassy dunes, sandy trails, coastal trees, and wide stretches of shoreline. It works well for sessions with a natural, airy, and peaceful feeling. It is also a wonderful option for families or couples who want room to walk, explore, and move around together.
Rockaway Beach
Rockaway Beach has the feeling of a classic Oregon Coast getaway. The long shoreline and views of the Twin Rocks create a recognizable but less crowded backdrop. It is great for playful couples, families, running along the water, or anyone who wants photographs that feel casual and genuinely connected.
Garibaldi
Garibaldi brings in more of the coast’s working harbor and fishing-town character. Boats, docks, industrial textures, and views of the bay make it an excellent choice for fisherman-inspired shoots, documentary-style portraits, or something with a rugged Pacific Northwest edge.
Cape Meares
Cape Meares feels quiet, green, and tucked away. The surrounding forest, ocean viewpoints, and nearby beaches create an intimate atmosphere that works beautifully for adventurous couples, elopements, and sessions inspired by the quieter side of the Oregon Coast.
Oceanside
Oceanside is small, dramatic, and full of character. Its cliffs, sea stacks, hillside homes, and hidden beach reached through the tunnel provide several completely different looks in one location. Depending on the weather and light, it can feel romantic, mysterious, or wonderfully relaxed.
Cape Lookout State Park
Cape Lookout is perfect for anyone who wants both forest and shoreline. The tall trees, wooded trails, campground atmosphere, and open beach create a gallery with plenty of variety. It is a great fit for adventurous couples, families, maternity sessions, and photographs with an earthy, natural feeling.
Neskowin Beach
Neskowin has a quiet and almost otherworldly beauty. Proposal Rock, the wide shoreline, and the remains of an ancient ghost forest visible at certain tides create a setting unlike anything else on the coast. It is an incredible choice for romantic, artistic, or slightly moodier sessions.
Finding the Place That Feels Like You
You do not need to already know which beach, trail, or coastal town is right for your session. That is part of what we are here to help with. We spend a lot of time exploring and photographing the Oregon Coast, and we can help you choose a location based on the atmosphere you want, the amount of walking you are comfortable with, the season, the tides, and the kind of story you want your photographs to tell.
Some locations feel adventurous and cinematic. Others are quiet, playful, romantic, rugged, or nostalgic. The Oregon Coast gives us the freedom to create something that feels like more than a typical photo session. It becomes an experience, and a small piece of the coast that you get to carry with you.
